Kindle

O.K. I'm not a happy camper.

I have a Kindle and while I love, love, love it I'm a little upset with Amazon.

Apparently there is a price war going on and as a result some of the publishers are not allowing Kindle editions of books.

Which means books I've been waiting for on Kindle are not going to be on Kindle.

And since I live in the Middle East I either have to pay double for the paperback or I can't get the book at all.

Which really sucks.

Especially since I like to read racey novels....

Ones you definitely can't get over here.

He, he, he!

I do love my erotica.

It's a font of knowledge and new things to try!

Hmmmmm.......where is my husband......

I'm a bad, bad, girl...

I'm not writing as much as I was before my vacation.

I think I'm still coasting on my vacation high...

That's how good my vacation was - I'm still feeling the benefit.

btw - Thailand has excellent coffee.

I had a ice Thai coffee everyday I was there - sometimes twice a day.

The vendors on the street use sweetened condensed milk in the coffee so it no longer tastes like coffee but some kind of sweet candy drink.

The hotel made it more like I like it - strong and not sweet.

Bliss....

Oh it's Thursday!

I can't wait to go home!

I'm getting a manicure / pedicure...

Then I plan on having a nice smooth whisky.

Ohhhhh I can't wait!

Can you believe it?

I cannot accept that people actually believe these things...

1.  Apparently the televangelist Pat Robertson believes that the earthquake in Haiti was caused because of a pact Haitians made with the devil in order to throw off French rule in the 18th century.

He actually said that - out loud - and they didn't commit him to a sanitarium somewhere. Clearly he's not dealing in reality.

2.  A religious leader in Iran, Hojatoleslam Kazim Sadeghi, says women and girls who "don't dress appropriately" spread "promiscuity in society."

Hmmm o.k.

And we all know what happens when a woman is promiscuous...

"When promiscuity spreads, earthquakes increase," he says in a video posted Monday on YouTube, apparently of him leading Friday prayers in Tehran, Iran, last week.

These two need to be committed together - either for severe mental illness or drug addiction.

Take your pick.

Here's the article:

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/meast/04/20/iran.promiscuity.earthquakes/index.html?eref=rss_world&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_world+%28RSS%3A+World%29&utm_content=My+Yahoo

Why does the press publish these things?  To show how stupid people are?

Help me to understand...

This article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100421/ap_on_re_us/us_day_of_prayer_military

Why in is an evangelist speaking at the Pentagon?

Really?!

Really.

Separation of Church and State - does anyone remember this?

This article is concerned about the fact this guy (Billy Graham's son no less) insulted Muslims.

When they really should be freaking out about the fact this guy was even invited to speak at the Pentagon!

STOP MIXING RELIGION WITH POLITICS!

People act crazy when you start mixing religion with politics - every religion thinks there's is the "right" one.  And when you start mixing that with politics you get religious politicians trying to shove their "morals" and "values" down everyone else's throat.

For example - Bush removing all funding to clinics who offer abortion, and removing funding to schools who teach any form of birth control other than abstinence.  It's all fine and well if you don't believe in abortion or birth control - but don't shove your beliefs onto me.

I do believe in a woman's right to choose and I do believe in educating teenagers on birth control.

If you don't you should be able to opt your children out of that type of education but you shouldn't be able to opt my children out.  The same goes with the right to choose - if you want to make that decision for yourself fine - but don't presume to make decisions regarding my life and my body for me.

Religion and politics is a slippery slope - someone on their high and mighty horse trying to force what they think is right on the masses is just a dictatorship waiting to happen.

Vacation - How sweet it is...

I have to say if you have a chance to go to Thailand GO!

We had the most incredible time.

The people were so nice,

The accommodation was beautiful,

And the food was fantastic!

This is where we stayed:

http://www.santiburi.com/bophut_resort/

We booked a villa with its own pool.

And man was that a good idea!  We didn't get into the main pool once, and we didn't swim in the ocean either.  But we did dip our feet into the water when we walked down the beach.

Having your own private pool is the height of decadence.

Seriously.

This was one of the best vacations we've ever had - it was so relaxing.

We just chilled out.

But we did do a few things - one day we did an Island Tour and had a look at the big Buddha.

And they weren't kidding when they said big - the thing was Giganormous!

We also went to an animal park and saw the snake show.

Well actually my husband watched it, I walked in saw the guy messing with the uncontained snakes, then I walked out.

I'm not down with teasing a snake that isn't in any kind of containment.  The guy and the snakes were seriously in a circle which had about a 1 foot wall around it.

And that was it.

Really?!

I can tell you without a shadow of doubt, I don't have any sort of wish to be bitten by a king cobra.

Really.

Then we did some zip lining in the tree tops - that was so much fun we almost did it again.

And we road an elephant.  My husband liked that more than me - it depressed me.

I'm not a fan of animal parks and such.  I know they have their place and purpose - I just don't like them.

I feel sad for the animals.

We got back yesterday morning about 2am - talk about a shocker - I had to get up and go to work at 7am.

I miss my vacation.

Boo hooo!

I'm Back

And I just can't bring myself to write anything right now.

I had such a wonderful time and now I'm back at work.

I need to adjust...then I'll write.

Later Gator

Naughty, Naughty

I was reading blogs again this morning...

I found this one:

http://nieniedialogues.blogspot.com/

It's really interesting - she's a young mother and her posts are really chatty and interesting.  She has a really good writing style.  I had read about 2 months worth of post before I realized that she was a burn victim.

Both she and her husband survived a small plane crash in 2008.

She had burns over 80% of her body and what's amazing is that her writing is still as upbeat after her crash as before.  And man does she love her husband and her children.

She talks about her adjustment to living with severe burns - but she's not bitter and her kids and her husband are still her joy.

I think that's what I like so much about her blog - her joy shines through.  Her joy in life, her husband, and her children.

It's a pleasure to read and I'm so glad I found it.

Go Rob Thomas!

I was surfing the net - yes I am very bored.

I cam across this on the Huffington Post:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rob-thomas/the-big-gay-chip-on-my-sh_b_208183.html

Rob says exactly what I feel regarding Gay Marriage.

Why are we even debating it?

My Head is going to EXPLODE!

I have a very stuffy nose and my head is exploding, it's not a cold - it's allergies.

Not good when I have only 5 days left until I leave for vacation.

So I popped some Clariton - hopefully that will help.

Or maybe when I get away from all the sand that will help.

Something needs to help.

Anyhoo - I'm going to start the application process for my MS in Accounting.

Here we go again - a 2nd masters - and most likely a 3rd because they have a track where you can get 2.  MS in Accounting & Financial Mangement and a MS in Accounting & Information Systems.

I'm going to get my CPA after I do the Accounting piece.

Luck to me on passing that the first time around!

Twilight - the Saga

I found this website:

http://bookstove.com/fantasy/why-i-hate-twilight/?25323#comment-25323

It's 95 reasons why you shouldn't read Twilight.

And, OH MY GOSH do I love it!!!!

In case you didn't already know I'm not a Twilight fan.

Main reason:  Edward is a pedophile.

What 117 year old man is going to find a 16 year old girl interesting?

Bella looks more like a 13 year old boy than a woman, so he's not interested because she looks like a woman.

So pedophile.

It's the only explanation.

My favorite reasons on the list to not read Twilight are:

26.  Her vampires sparkle. Enough said.
28.  There is too much face touching.
45.  Bella.
46.  Bella is Edward’s beard.
48.  Straight men sparkle?
51.  Edward Cullen is sparkly; crows like sparkly things.
59.  She had only been in Forks for a month when Edward had been watching her sleep for two months. (Ha ha ha!)
65.  The reason Edward can’t read Bella’s mind is because she doesn’t have one.
77.  A hundred years difference = pedophile.

I understand that I'm not the demographic that this book is aiming for - but I think I would have had a hard time with this one even when I was 16.  It's creepy when a man goes after a child.

And I love this list because it states the one thing that kept me from even considering this series, the age gap.

And he's sparkly - really?  Sparkly?

The Humidity, Oh the Humidity!

Yep it's really humid here...

And my hair is loving it!!!

It's full and bouncy with a bit of wave.

And I'm liking it...

My hair does not like it when there is no humidity in the air, I look like some kind of homeless reject.

It turns dull, lank, and oily and I can't do anything with it no matter how hard I try.

So today I'm loving my hair.

I feel prity!  Like model...cheerleader...

Prity.

Off to get my coffee now...

Bliss. Ahhhhh.

No More Kissing People

I knew this would happen,

I hoped it wouldn't, but was pretty sure it would.

I believe it's part backlash from the financial crisis, and part of the increased influence from Abu Dhabi after the Dubai bailout.

Dubai is getting more conservative.

Money always has strings.

Anyway, from what I gather - a British couple were thrown in jail for kissing in a restaurant.

http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/crime/british-kissing-couple-loses-jail-appeal-in-dubai-lawyer-1.607664

http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/crime/british-couple-denies-lip-kissing-claim-it-was-peck-on-cheek-1.597307

Not for inappropriately touching, but for kissing.

The article doesn't say if his tongue was down her throat or not.

I haven't heard anything about them being warned to stop, then arrested when they didn't stop.

It just says they were kissing, an Emirati woman complained, so they were arrested and sentenced to a month in jail.

Nice.

Progress Report

Well, I've been thinking....

What... are you sinking about?

Well, I'm thinking about what the hell I can do in this ridiculous country if I'm stuck here for the next 2 - 3 years.

This is what I've come up with so far...

1. Join Fitness First - Because....

I need to get out of the house during the week and it's right across the street from where I work and I need to lose weight

2. Become so busy I don't have time to breath, in order to do that I believe I'm going to...

Get an Master of Science in Accounting and Financial Management

There is an online program that SP told me about at the University of Maryland which has an accredited online Masters in Accounting.

And it's a lot cheaper than the University of Phoenix. Too bad I didn't find it when I was looking at MBA's I could have had mine for 1/2 of what I paid UoP.

Live and learn.

3. I need to find a new J.O.B.!

I can't do the monkey work anymore.

My brain is totally dying. I'm going to start drooling and shuffling around the house if I don't do something about it soon.

Soooo

I'm going to identify large multinational corporations who have operations in Dubai and
Look into the big 4 here to see if they are any better than they were when I checked them out 2 yrs ago.

So I figure if I'm busy at work, and I'm busy at home that won't leave me anytime to think.

We'll see....
