I must really be looking young!
I was carded AGAIN last night at the Wheelhouse here in Valdez!
Apparently I really don't look my age here in Alaska. Which is weird because in previous years I wasn't carded.
But, hey I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth. If people think I look like I'm young enough to question whether or not I'm legal who am I to argue?!
I'm just going to bask.
I'm basking!
This is a venue where I can make observations, comments, and possibly vent my opinion on my life, the country in which I live, America, and possibly politics.

Oh my Gosh! I'm 20 again!
The most amazing thing happened to me on Saturday, my husband, my brother and I were in Anchorage, getting ready to start our drive to Valdez.
We went to Gwennies to have breakfast (we always go there to have breakfast when we're in town), my husband parked the car, and I ran in to put our name on the list.
While I was waiting for him and my brother to come in I had a seat at the bar.
It was 10 o'clock in the morning (yes we got a late start) and I decided to have a soda - I'd get my coffee with breakfast.
The bartender walked behind the bar and I ask her if I can have a drink...I wasn't sure if the bar was open in the morning.
Apparently it is - and not just for soda.
She took a look at me and said, yes but I need your ID before I can serve you.
I was taken aback. I'm 40. I haven't been carded in 10 years and who drinks alcohol at 10am?
Well apparently vacationers do...
So I looked at her and said, really?
She said yes, with a serious look on her face.
I then said, oh, I just wanted a diet coke - but you really want to card me? You don't think I look older than 21? Oh my God! I think I love you!
I know I could kiss you!
She smiled and gave me my diet coke.
This woman looked like she was in her mid 50's and was the type of women who didn't take any crap.
She made my day.
Now my husband is trying to sniff the youth out of me because he says I apparently have youth to spare. I'm chasing him off because really, I'm not giving any of this up!
Who knows how long this mini sprint back in time will last!

What a waste...
I joined a gym.
I've been about 5 times.
In two months.
I don't think this is working out for me, I should know by now that joining a gym is just a waste of money.
For me anyway.
Unless I have someone meeting me there I just can't be bothered. I'm one of those people who need a work out partner. I don't like being alone when I exercise.
It's boring.
Too bad my husband doesn't work out - that would make it so much easier to get into and keep in shape.
God knows we both need to exercise.
There are so many good things about being in shape.
Good health, good mood, better sex.
And really the best thing about being in shape...
Being able to wear anything.
It is so much more fun to go shopping when you are fit - let me tell you.
I use to be able to pull anything off the rack and the only problem I really had was the waist was too big.
Cause even when I'm skinny I'm Lush.
Or if you prefer Voluptuous.
What can I say - I have curves.
My body shape was the rage in the 50's. Which is why I prefer those styles - I rock 'em.
I could have been a pin up in the 50's. I have/had the bust, waist, hip measurements for it.
But alas and alak I live in the 2000's, the 00's? What do you call it when you are at the beginning of a century? The Naughts? The O's?
Anyway - I guess I'll go back to work and think on the fact I'm not using the gym...
NOT! (I'm laughing, I'm laughing!)

The Humidity, Oh the Humidity!
Yep it's really humid here...
And my hair is loving it!!!
It's full and bouncy with a bit of wave.
And I'm liking it...
My hair does not like it when there is no humidity in the air, I look like some kind of homeless reject.
It turns dull, lank, and oily and I can't do anything with it no matter how hard I try.
So today I'm loving my hair.
I feel prity! Like model...cheerleader...
Prity.
Off to get my coffee now...
Bliss. Ahhhhh.

Pottery Barn
I did it.
I went to Pottery Barn.
And I bought a new set of dishes on Saturday.
But I HAD to.
I'm serious - I did.
When I was eating dinner on Friday I felt something on my shoulder.
I brushed my shoulder and looked - nothing.
I continued eating.
Then I felt something on my arm.
I looked - nothing.
Then I sat up and saw a GIGANORMOUS bug.
So of course I screamed and threw my plate on the floor.
Where it shattered on the tile.
Spilling burrito, sour cream, and grated cheese everywhere.
I couldn't even let Gabi eat it up because of the shards of plate.
She was very disappointed.
Poor puppy.
Anyway, that final breakage meant I only had 3 plates left.
That's down from 8.
And that is the point at which I said I would break down and buy a new set of dishes.
So I did. I bought 2 settings of each color of the Studio Collection.
Aren't they beautiful!?
And they didn't price gouge me either - the prices here in Dubai are just about the same as in the States.
America.
Pottery Barn.
Heaven.

Web Design Anyone?
Well I tried to change my blog layout.
As you can tell - it didn't go to well. I switched back to the original design.
I wanted to go with a more coffee themed background, but the one I picked made reading my blog impossible.
And it took away my ability to change the fonts size and color. So I had Giganormous lettering that had a color about one shade off from the background color.
Which really makes reading difficult.
I was disappointed to say the least, but I saved a back up copy of my template so all was not lost.
Thank goodness.
I guess my blog is not meant to be Prity like others.
It's meant to be functional. Which is the same as boring.
On the bright side I did figure out how to put a map on my blog.
Of course the site did it for you, but I pressed the button!
A web designer I am not.
Maybe I'll take a class when I move back home.
Then again - maybe I won't.

A Few More Things...
This morning I have a few things that are making me extra happy, even though it's a Sunday (normal world Monday).
1. The evening Primrose and no Sugar is helping. This may be TMI, but I started today and I do not have cramps. That is unheard of!
I guess this means no more sugar even after Lent is over. Which I'm a little sad about since I love ice cream, but I'm really happy about because I'm usually not good for anything for at least 2 days a month. Sometimes to the point that I'm unable to go to work. So to say I'm excited about not having cramps is an understatement.
2. I got my new suit yesterday - and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! I feel so put together!
3. The weight that I gained - 1.5lbs is most likely water weight since I swell like a balloon every month so that means I didn't magically gain fat over night. That made me happy.
4. I look pretty in my new suit.
5. I love my new purse (yes baby, if you're reading this I did buy a purse yesterday!).
6. I also bought a pretty necklace, he, he, he...
7. I feel pretty in my new suit.
8. I made pumpkin muffins, with walnuts, for breakfast this week and even though I altered the recipe they turned out great and are super yummy! In case you were dying of curiosity - I doubled the amount of pumpkin and halved the amount of sugar.
This is a great start to the week! Let's hope the rest goes as well as the weekend.

Candy Anyone?
I admit it...
I'm probably on the internet too much.
I'm probably on the internet too much.
He looks average right?
Well who knew that average could look like this...
Or this?
And this!
I mean really?! Look at him!
These photos make me want to lose 50 pounds and spend 3 hours a day in the gym. Maybe I should print them out and use them as incentive.
Although considering the website I found them one:
http://www.queerty.com
He may bat only for the home team.
But that's o.k. with me - after all it's not like I'm available.
And even if I were, and he was interested, let's face it I'm pretty high maintenance.
And he looks like he's high maintenance. And two high maintenance people really don't do well together.
But I can look - and man THIS, THIS is some eye candy.
So I had to share it.
Enjoy -
