I'm closing this blog down because I'm no longer living outside the US!
My new blog is:

So go ahead and follow me over there!!!
This is a venue where I can make observations, comments, and possibly vent my opinion on my life, the country in which I live, America, and possibly politics.

A Little Loopy
But I'm back.
Surgery was nerve wracking.
I arrived at about 5.15am got checked in and changed (I hate those hospital gowns) and they took my vitals.
Then the nurse dropped the bomb.
I had to have a shot of Heparin.
In my stomach.
Yep I said it.
IN.
MY.
STOMACH.
So of course I freaked out.
So they gave me the happy medicine sooner rather than later and all was good.
Then they rolled me down to the surgery room - which they said I wouldn't remember - but I do.
And gave me more happy medicine.
Then the next thing I knew I was in recovery. It's like magic.
Then they told me I had to stay overnight. Which freaked me out a little because I wasn't expecting that.
But I'm glad they kept me because I was able to get the good pain killers and it really helped to have a bed that you could put at a incline.
Lying flat hurts.
So right now I'm propped up on a ton of pillows.
The staff at St Luke's was really nice - they made the stay pleasant.
Even though I was awakened every 2 hours so they could take my vitals. Of course they also asked if I was in any pain and when I said yes they would give me something for it.
Gotta love pain meds.
Seriously.
I got out of the hospital yesterday afternoon and my husband booked us into a hotel.
Why you ask?
Well because our furniture still hasn't arrived!
So we're chillin' at the hotel and this morning I felt good enough to want to go to Le Peep for breakfast.
I had a bit of spinach omelette and 1/2 a biscuit. That was the first food I'd had since Tuesday other than crackers and popsicles.
Then we went to the house to get more pillows for me.
Then for some reason I thought I'd be o.k. to go to the mall.
Big mistake.
All I can say to you is OWEEE.
So my husband brought me back to the hotel where I quickly took my meds, laid down and took a nap.
And I've stayed in bed for the rest of the day.
Lesson learned.
Just because you think you feel good doesn't mean you do, it just means your pain medication is working.
Anyway - I just took more pain medication and now I'm starting to feel it...
Bye bye!

My First Crock Pot Meal
Believe it or not but I bought a crock pot.
Who knew cooking would be so easy!
I kid you not it took me like 10 minutes to put everything in the pot then I turned it on for 10 hours and left it.
I (or rather IT) made the MOST delicious pulled beef sandwiches! Just add Cheddar!
The recipe called for a wine, balsamic vinegar, worcestershire sauce, which after cooking, is used for dipping.
Yum!
I put a 3lb rump roast in the pot but it can hold a bigger one. So next time I'm going to get the butcher to give me a 6lb one.
I love to freeze food - makes life so simple when you are busy!
I bought the Cuisinart 6.5 quart slow cooker.
Don't worry they have more at the store - or Amazon!
Tastee, Tastee, Tastee!
My next cooking attempt is going to be pecan chicken.
I get to beat it with a mallet!
Hopefully I'll remember to take photos!

I have nerves...
I have to have surgery on the 18th.
I'm glad because I need it.
But nervous because, well, it's surgery.
And they tell you every teeny tiny little thing that can go wrong.
Like I need to hear that before I go under.
All I can say it that I sure am glad to get that first shot that makes you go night, night!
Then you magically wake up.
On the puppy front -
Gracie is walking on a lead better - not so much stopping and flopping.
She can follow the commands, sit, come, down.
We're working on off - she just started jumping up on us like 2 days ago.
And she's still chasing after the cat. I can't get her to stop - I thought the cat would have taken care of it by now - she did with Gabi.
I guess she's just old and tired.
Gracie also talks back when you tell her no.
It's funny - but not because I can't figure out how to teach her not to bark.
I guess that's a question for our puppy class tomorrow!
I'm glad because I need it.

Rollin with the homies....
That song is in my head.
GET OUT! GET OUT!
There that's better...
Our stuff still hasn't arrived yet.
I'm a little sick of having no furniture.
Actually I an SUPER sick of having no furniture. I dropped a note to the girl who is suppose to be "co-ordinating" the shipping to see where are things are and she says:
"Dear Judith,
So I wrote back:
"Thank you Jessica.
Thanks goodness for our friends who loaned us a card table, folding chairs and dishes.
Anyway since I don't have furniture I'm obsessing over furniture.
So we were shopping this past weekend and I found the couch I want to buy when we get a house.
It's from Restoration Hardware and I love it - the Mr. didn't even argue when he saw it. We may even get it sooner rather than later. But first I need a J.O.B.
We also like this bed from RH.
I like this chair because it fits me.
I may get two and put a table between so there is a small seating area.
I also kinda like this instead of night stands.
It looks like a night stand to me - but it's listed as a "trunk".
Go figure.
Anyway I guess my shopping will be virtual until I'm working and the stuff I already own gets here.
What a
PAIN.
IN.
THE.
ASS.
On the bright side...
I'm in AMERICA!
GET OUT! GET OUT!
There that's better...

"Dear Judith,
I'm sorry but the update has not changed as of yet. Hopefully when this is supposed to arrive to the Bahamas tomorrow they will give me additional information for this. Again I'm sorry I don't have better news. I hope to be able to update you again within the next few days."
So I wrote back:
"Thank you Jessica.
I have a question.
My understanding is that shipping lines have schedules for their ships. While I understand things can happen (storms, mechanical failure etc...) which would impact this schedule, I fail to understand how the company cannot give us an expected arrival date. They must have some sort of schedule otherwise how are they getting business? Most freighters have to have some kind of target arrival date otherwise company's wouldn't engage their services.
Can you please either question the freighter company and strongly request an estimated date of arrival and reason for the delay or give me their contact details and I'll contact them for the information.
Thanks,"
So she wrote back that the office is closed and she'll get back with me.
If I don't hear anything tomorrow - I'm going to call her.

11 Weeks and Growing!
Here is a photo of me and Gracie Jane at 9 weeks.
We were carrying the little nig nog because there was shattered glass all over the sidewalk and on both sides in the grass.
Here's one with my hubby.
It was a beautiful day.
And here is a photo of me and Gracie Jane at 11 weeks.
I don't know if you can tell or not...but she's growing!
This is my favorite photo my hubby took while we were walking in the park right beside our apartment.
Here's one with my hubby.

I'm a Voter!
I voted early!
I'm very proud of myself.
Of course I voted Republican right down the line - except for one guy. Randy something or another.
His little helpers left a flyer at my house with photos of him and his family.
I would recommend that he not do that again in the future. He looks and dresses like a total bubba.
As does his children.
Think trailers, motorcycles, and people who live at the bar.
He reminded me of my father.
NOT a good thing.
Think alcoholic, never there, checked out of reality in the 60's.
So NOT going to vote for someone like that.
Who in the world thinks photos of them in their undershirt is a good thing. Especially when you don't look like an Abercrombie & Fitch model.
If you look like this and want me to vote for you:
Feel free to send me your photos.
No wait - I ENCOURAGE you to send me your photos.
But if you look like this and want me to vote for you:
Please, keep your photos to yourself. It will have the opposite affect that you want. I won't vote for you.
I know the thought process behind it he's trying to say - "Look at me I'm a good ole boy, I'm one of you...".
But the only thing I hear is "Look at me I'm an alcoholic, I'll drink your money away."
Not good. I'm voting for the other guy.
I don't care who the other guy is.
He could even be a Hippy Lovin' Democrat.
Which is what I think I voted for.
Scary huh?

Date Night
We had a date Thursday night.
It was a lot of fun.
We went to the Bayou Gardens and did the sip and walk.
That's where you walk through the gardens while sipping on a glass of wine.
Nice.
The hubby - he was carrying the wine while I carried the eats...
I think the owners of the house were going for a European garden feel.
I liked it, it was a nice garden and a nice walk.
There were also fountains. I like this photo - it looks like a fake background. But it was real...
My artistic photo.
And cupid.
A bridge - I liked it in black and white better than color.
It was a really nice evening out - we're doing more of this than we ever had before. There are so many more choices in America. What to do, what to be.
You just can't beat it.
More Americans should have to live out of the country so they can see how great our country is compared to the rest of the world.
I love being home.

I Still Have IT, but Don't Know if I want IT...
I'm at Starbucks.
I just met with a recruiter - I think he was more interested in how I could help him get a job in the Middle East than getting me a job here.
But that's o.k. he was really nice.
Anyway there is a guy sitting in a separate group of chairs across from me who has been winking and gesturing to a chair directly across from him.
I think he's trying to flirt with me.
I'm a little out of practice - after all I've not been single for about 10 years.
But I'm pretty sure he's flirting.
From what I can gather from his phone conversation he may be a life insurance salesman.
Which is about as attractive as a used car salesman.
I mean he's kinda cute, but not.
Like slimy cute.
Like probably married and has many numerous lovers on the side - slimy cute.
Shit he's coming over!
=======================
O.K. I was ignoring him - typing on my blog but the ignoring didn't work - he walked over and proceeded to have a 45 minute conversation with me.
He was trying to pick me up - even though I was wearing my wedding ring.
SLIME!
Oh and he is a insurance salesman - ick ick ick!
I screwed with him a little bit - until SP came in and rescued me.
I told him I didn't play for or with his team.
Told him that I preferred women and toys and he couldn't compete.
I've never laughed so hard in my life.
His face was priceless!

Food Crack
Yes I said Food CRACK!
We went to a restaurant the other day, one friends had taken my husband to when he was here in Houston on business.
It's called Lola.
http://www.eatlola.com/
But I took one of my husband when we were waiting for take out a few days later.
Because I couldn't stop thinking about my Food Crack.

I had a beef and cheddar sandwich. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
No lie.
The beef was delicious - no gristle at all.
And the bun. The Bun.
It was so good it deserves to be capitalized.
It was a yeast bun that was lightly toasted on the inside.
It makes me shiver just to think about it.
And oh did I mention the Butter?
It goes without saying that Butter should ALWAYS be capitalized.
I think they brushed The Bun with Butter.
I'm sure they brushed The Bun with Butter.
If it's not Butter on that Bun then I don't want to know.
If it tastes that good it MUST be Butter.
Of course I finished it off before I thought to take a photo.

Gracie Jane Comes Home!
Gracie Jane came home with us on October 16th when she was 9 weeks old.
We Drove up to Dallas in our new SUV, here's the big statue of Sam Houston. Pretty good photo for going about 75MPH.
My hubby talking to me...he wasn't really expecting me to take a photo.
Here is Gracie Jane's Daddy. I have a photo of her mother but I can't figure out which one she is! They had 3 Adult American Mastiffs and they were all so sweet and cute. Too bad we couldn't pick up Gracie earlier - I would have loved to see her brothers and sisters.
Here's my hubby meeting Gracie - she looks so small.
And here I am holding her - he paws are so big and thick.
This is Gracie on the drive home - she whined for about 10 minutes then slept the entire way back to Houston.
Isn't she so cute!?

Our New Apartment
Here are a few photos of our new apartment.
Here is the living room. And no we have no furniture yet...it's currently on it's way to the Bahamas and is expected to land there on November 4th with no estimate of when it will arrive here in Houston.
Nice. I hope my furniture has fun there...
Here is the kitchen - nice and open! I missed that in Dubai and London both places generally have kitchens with doors.
Here is my nice BIG bathroom! I love having drawers again!

I'm thinking of buying dressers from the 2nd hand store to put our clothes in while we wait.

Here is the court yard outside our living room. It's green and growing...not sandy!
Life is good!
And We're Back...
I have internet again so I'm up and running...
Kinda.
Who knew moving back would make me so busy? When I moved to Dubai I can remember being bored out of my mind getting depressed and having problems getting out of bed.
Literally.
Now I'm up at 5am and I'm going all day long.
I'm exhausted by the end of the day!
Between setting up the house, taking care of the puppy and looking for a job AND getting back in touch with friends I'm booked solid.
And I still need to re-connect with my friends in the UAE and UK.
I suck at keeping in touch when I'm in flux.
So I'm going to be putting up multiple posts regarding what has been going on....
Get ready...
Here it comes....
Oh and will you look at that location? It's HOUSTON baby!
Kinda.

No Internet!
I have no internet right now so it's been a pain trying to keep in touch! We should have internet tomorrow - fingers crossed!
Here is a quick summary of what has been going on...
We moved into our new apartment, we have no furniture but a good friend loaned us dishes and utensils thank goodness.
It is a pain and it's expensive to replace everything we had to get rid of when we moved from Dubai and I'm glad I don't have to purchase things we already have, but just haven't arrived yet!
We picked up miss Gracie Jane - she's soo cute!
I'm still looking for a job but have been really busy setting up the house.
I'll write more and add photos when we are back online...

Gracie Jane is Coming Home!
I received more photos of Gracie Jane!
I've bought all the necessary items except one...her tag. I'm going to get that one today. I got her a cute adjustable collar - it's grey and pink.
I also bought her a dog bed and it's a bit bigger than this one, but not as big as it's going to need to be!
She also has babies waiting for her to play with. A pig, a chicken, and one thing that I'm really not sure what it is...
They are indoor toys - I'm not sure if she's going to toss her toys in the house - but if she does they need to be the soft ones. Not tennis balls. They break things.
The outdoor toys she'll get later, after we get an idea of what she may prefer.
We are so excited - need to make sure the camera batteries are charged up for tomorrow!
Isn't she adorable?! We're going to pick her up tomorrow morning!

Job Hunt
I'm looking for a job.
I called 3 recruiters gave 2 my details.
Not sure how fast a job will show up.
Not really sure how soon I want to work.
Ideally it would be after our stuff arrived and we unpacked. But I'm open to working faster than that.
I am so tired.
I need to take a nap.
Then I think I can be energized - active - in my job search.
SNORE!

Updates
I haven't been keeping in touch very well, neither on my blog or in my life personally.
I need to update my blog to reflect the fact that I'm BACK!
I'm going to keep updating this one until I'm move into our new apartment and our stuff has been delivered by the movers.
I think that's a good demarkation point. I was there and now I'm here.
Then I'm going to start a new blog and link this one to it.
I've been busy getting things together and living with my bf SP has kept me busy.

And who knew kids were so time consuming?!
It's been fun, but I've been shit at calling my friends here and reconnecting, or keeping connected to my friends in the UK and the UAE.
It'll get better once I'm in my own place and have some sort of routine. But right now I'm just trying to get settled in.
Yesterday we bought a new bed - since ours will not arrive until after the 30th and,
I've started the great job hunt -met with a recruiter and now need to get on the stick to apply and call etc...
Hopefully I'll be employed soon.
If not full time I'm going to go for a part-time job. Maybe at Starbucks...
Anyway I'm going to make an effort to update more often, call my friends, and get my fricken Skype sorted out. It keeps freezing up and not allowing me to chat or make phone calls.
Later!

What a Bum!
I thought I'd be:
Writing prolifically in my Blog.
Organizing my Kindle books in an excel spreadsheet jotting down the summary so I could tell what the books were about without opening them up.
That's the downside to an electronic book - if you forget the order they should be read in, forget what they are about, etc... it's a pain to open it up in the kindle to try and figure it out.
Madly looking for a job.
Calling all my friends and having lunch / dinner / drinks / coffee.
I can't figure out what I've been doing instead.
What have I been doing for the past week (can you believe I'll be home for a week this Wednesday?!)?
Well I did get some things done - I found an apartment, we bought a car, I set up the electricity for the apartment, arranged to pick up Gracie Jane, and I have an appointment on Thursday with a recruiter.
I also took AW to the doctor, and I'm running errands and going grocery shopping today.
Huh...I guess I've done a bit more than I thought.
But still nothing I thought I'd be doing. I need to write a list.
Then I can mark things off.
Be productive.
I love being in America!

Foul Play
I just want to say I really like the movie Foul Play.
I'm watching it for like the 10 millionth time!
What can I say - I'm unemployed...for now.

Another Great Day
In the 'hood!
Ha Ha Ha!
I had an interesting experience today - I took my best friend SP's son to the doctor.
I've never taken a child to the doctor before (not really a child he's 13 soon to be 14).
Thank goodness he knew where he was going - I wouldn't have gotten him there in time if I had been navigating.
I'm directionally challenged - I admit it.
Anyway, they ask A LOT of questions. Questions that I didn't know - questions that the answers, I would have thought, would have been in the computer.
Like - are you allergic to anything, how tall are you, etc...
After all he'd been there before.
Good thing he knew the answers. I sure as hell didn't.
So basically I was the chauffeur - he did all the talking. I'm really glad it wasn't the 3 year old I was taking to the Dr.
I would have really sucked at that, and most likely they would have called CPS on me for not knowing the basics. You know questions like, what's his birthday?
Anyway - it was a good time, he's a good kid and very capable. Who knew kids were so very time consuming and costly. That 3 hour visit cost about 250 in co-pays. But it turned out he did fracture his thumb.
So the visit did last longer and cost more than anticipated.
New topic....
I still don't know what I'm going to rename the blog. Maybe I'll have this as one page and my American experiences as another....
I'm thinking, I'm thinking....
Ha Ha Ha!

It's my first Sunday back in America.
I LOVE SUNDAY'S!
We're doing what one should do on a Sunday.
Having pancakes.
Watching TV, relaxing in the living room.

The Move in Update
Well I've been back in Houston for not quite 3 days and here is my progress report.
1. We've rented an apartment yesterday. Move in date is Oct 16th, so it took me 1.5 days to find and rent a place
2. We looked at and test drove a few cars on Thursday and Friday, then bought one this morning.
3. I have a new phone that we bought today - I got a Samsung Android.
Yes, I've come into the 21st century with my technologically advanced android phone.
I'd say that was pretty good progress. Quick and easy - and most of it done online.
Now what have I been doing the past 3 days you ask (other than finding a place to live and car to drive)?
I've eaten brisket at Phil's, Kolatche Factory for breakfast, Outback for dinner and of course we broke open a new bottle of whiskey that we bought from Scotland.
It was tastee....oh so tastee.
I LOVE AMERICA!

The First Day...
Home.
I'm home! I'm home!
We arrived last night and it's my first morning home.
I dropped the husband off at work, and now life begins.
I drove in rush hour traffic - but did I get frustrated? Upset?
NO!
I'm in America and I was just taking it all in.
The blue sky, the green grass (boy do I miss the color green), the courteous drivers.
Yes, I know in about 6 months I'll be cussing a blue streak at the so called courteous drivers - but really Houstonians drive much better than the drivers in Dubai.
In Dubai the locals (and the expats who've gone native) act like the roads are their own personal race track - I'm not kidding.
I'm driving about 120km an hour (which I think is about 80mph) and they are passing me like I'm standing still. You do NOT want to be in front of them blocking their way. It's very dangerous.
Now I'm going to finish up a few things from work - meeting notes and such.
Then I'm going apartment hunting - let's see how long that takes. I'm thinking a day or two.
Tonight we're buying a car.
And the job hunt is going to be kicked into full gear.
I love my life.
I love my husband.

OMG! It's My Last DAY!
It's my last day in Dubai!
My last night!
And I am so excited to be going home!
This weekend we've already planned to:
1. Go to Einsteins and Nails by TN
2. Buy a car for Sammy
3. Look for an apartment
4. Visit friends
Think that's too much for the weekend?
Not really - it's surprisingly easy to buy a car in the US when you have a credit history, the same goes for getting an apartment.
So nice to be going home!

I am soooo Not Feelin' Groovy
I went out last night with a friend and my husband.
I had 3 glasses of red wine.
I may as well had 2 bottles.
I feel like shit.
How can one have a hangover like this off two small glasses of wine and one large one?
Thank goodness I didn't do this tomorrow night - I sure as hell don't want to take a 17 hour flight feeling like this.
Of course, feeling miserable might actually take my mind off the fact I'm flying.
I won't have to chant to myself that the air sucks up the wings and that's what's keeping the stupid thing in the air.
I took 3 Advil - why the hell haven't they kicked in yet?!

Here I Sit...
In the hotel room. It's 7pm and I think it's safe to say...
I ONLY HAVE 2 MORE DAYS LEFT IN THE UAE!!!
Can I get whoop, whoop, up in here?!
We have a few things left to do.
1. Pay the movers. Seems like they forgot to ask for payment. Interesting. It's a good thing I asked. Because apparently they will not ship anything outside the country until they have payment. And they forgot to get it from us.
2. Get the final bill from DEWA (the electric company here) so we can...
3. Get the deposit back from the landlord.
4. Get verification that the cat can fly.
5. LEAVE!
Shakin' my ass, shakin' my ass...
I seem to do a lot of that here in this blog.
Oh well I like it and it is my blog!
Here I go, shakin' my ass, shakin' my ass, shakin' my ass!

Gracie Jane Update!
Here is the new photo of Gracie Jane! She's about 6 weeks old now.
Isn't she adorable?!
The breeder said that they have put on about 2 or 3lbs but I can't tell because there isn't anything next to her for scale.
When we get here I'll be taking photos so we can document growth - next to a toy maybe?
I can't wait to get home and get settled.
Only 3 more days!
Life is good...
Really good.

I'm Waiting....
For the movers to get here and finish packing me up.
For the spa to open so I change my appointment because the movers are not finished.
For my neighbor to wake up so I can go and chat while I'm waiting for the movers.
I can't believe I had to get up so early - 5:30 AM.
I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow.
I only have 5 more days left in this country!
I'm wondering if I should create a new blog for the US or just rename this blog.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
In other news - I did NOT eat that doughnut at Starbucks this morning.
THAT took some major will power.
I'm just sayin'.

I HATE Moving
Can I just say to you that I absolutely hate moving.
My husband and I are fighting.
The movers are looking at us like we're pod people.
And they are packing us up.
I'm very glad to be moving to the US, but I'm really, REALLY, stressed out.
So, I went to my neighbors.
With my Vodka.
The good stuff - Belvedere.
I had a generous glass.
So right now I AM DRUNK.
Maybe not the best way to be when moving.
But it was either this or become a raging maniac.
Moving is NO FUN! Even when you are going to the promise land.
Oh, did I mention that it's only 12 noon now. I was drinking at 11am.
But it's 5 o'clock somewhere right?

ADD
Attention Deficit Disorder.
I had to look up what the D.D. stood for.
I keep starting tasks, then forgetting what I'm doing.
Looking up things on the regulator website for work, then realizing 10 minutes later that, no I didn't mean to look up images for "naked gay sex in the streets".
I wanted to see if the Nigerian was serious when he said he saw it on the BBC.
He didn't. You should google it, there are some pretty weird images.
But no naked gay sex in the streets.
Beautiful men with beautiful chests.
No gay sex.
And there I go getting side tracked again.
I should be working, will be working, am going to work.
After all everything has to be tied up before I go!
AMERICA!

AMERICA!
It's the Final Count Down!
If I remember correctly isn't that a song by Asia?
Am I dating myself?
Anway here are the stats!
I have:
3 days left at work (not counting today)
1 day left until the movers pack me up
7 days until I leave on a jet plane!
I can't believe it's coming up so fast!
We've sold just about everything we wanted to, and the rest is going to a service called Take My Junk UAE.
http://www.takemyjunkuae.com/
They take your stuff and either sell or donate it to needy families.
I'm not sure how much actually goes to needy families - to be quite honest I don't care.
They are the only ones I've been able to find who will come take my junk away, so they get it.
We have quite the agenda for the first weekend back home. My husband wants to buy a car, and I want to find an apartment.
And of course I'll be dealing with Jet Lag.
JET LAG
Which means I'll be ready for bed everyday for a week or so at 6pm. I always feel like I've been drugged when I go home. And when I fly to Dubai. But flying to Europe is pretty easy - it's just anything over 12 hours kicks my ass.
Then the 2nd weekend we are home we're going to get Gracie Jane! Unless we can't get an apartment right away. Then we'll have to wait.
I bought the dog whisperer book on how to raise a puppy since I've only raised a dog from about 4 - 6 months old not 8 weeks old.
I figured I'd need a little more info and guidance on how to take care of a baby puppy. And of course it's been a long, long time since I had a dog of 6 months. Like 9 years ago.
I'm really looking forward to seeing her grow up. I'm sure I'll be posting tons of photos of the little fattie as she grows.
Ciao!

Say Hello to Gracie Jane!
We got a new puppy.
Yes, I know it seems quick, since Gabi passed away on August 11.
But I think Gracie Jane was meant for us. She was born on August 12.
My husband and I had been talking about when we thought we would get another dog and what kind. He had mentioned American Mastiffs a while ago so I started researching them to see if they would be a good fit.
Because you know, we are not the high energy, must run everyday without fail, working dog kinda people. We are more the laid back, take a leisurely walk everyday, and socialize with the other dog owners, kinda people.
And guess what! They are a good match for us...they are very calm, social dogs who are protective of their families. Which is great - a dog that gets along when you take it to the park but will be a bit protective if someone breaks into the house in the middle of the night.
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanmastiff.htm
Anyway when I was checking to see if they had any breeders in Texas I came across the breeder site.
http://www.americanmastiffbreederscouncil.com/American%20Mastiff%20Breeders.htm
And there is one in Texas: www.fivebranch.com
So I go on the website and what do I see?
Puppies.
Lots of puppies.
10 to be exact - AND there were two females that had not been placed into homes yet.
So I sent the breeder a note, saying that we wouldn't be back in the States until the beginning of October and most likely not be able to get a new dog until November at the earliest and when did they think the next litter would be born.
Well she came back and said, well if you want one of the remaining females we can keep her for you until mid November.
So I ask my husband, do you think we should get one? He's like sure why not?
So now we have a new puppy, and we'll most likely pick her up the 2nd weekend in October!
YEAH!
So now without further ado...here is Gracie Jane!

International Moves
Are very stressful and frustrating.
My husband and I are tense, have had some spats, and I feel super stressed out regarding the schedule.
6 more days of work.
3 more days until they pack us out.
10 more days until we leave.
What to take?
What to sell?
And why am I getting freaky about things.
That just. Don't. Matter.
You know like should we bring these glasses? Or get rid of them?
I'm like NO leave them, he's like YES take them.
But really who gives a crap?
They don't add any extra weight or cost to the move.
So really it's just not a big deal.
Oh and guess what - I broke a fricken mirror.
What does one have to do to negate the 7 years of bad luck?

Feelin' Groovy...
I'm getting ready to go out.
With my Dubai friends...
To have tea at the Ritz.
I was thinking...wouldn't a whiskey be nice...?
So I had one.
So now I'm feelin good
I'm feelin groovy
And I'm off (in a Taxi) to have high tea, or the Dubai equivalent.
There is a bar at the Ritz...
Maybe instead of tea, I'll have "Tea".
In Whiskey form.
Hmmmm, I wonder what single malts they have.
It is the Ritz.
I have high expectations.
With my Dubai friends...

Wow! New Countries Viewing
I love looking at the Stats on Blogger.
Ever since I figured out that I could see who was looking, and from where I like to keep track and see if there are any new countries viewing.
This is the traffic from the past 24 hours:
Country Page Views
Thailand 16
Taiwan 16
United Arab Emirates 3 - This is me
Brazil 1
Canada 1
China 1
Hungary 1
United States 1
This is the first time anyone from Asia has been listed as a viewer.
I'm pretty sure the Thailand and Taiwan hits are from my Bieber post, the Stats don't indicate what brought them to the site but, personally I think the tweens in Asia are Googling "Justin Bieber dating" and they are getting my blog.
Boy they must be disappointed. No gossip, just a little Bieber bashing.
And I'm pretty disappointed there were no comments. I was kinda hoping for something melodramatic, you know like that guy on You Tube.
The one who cries "You leave Britney alone, SHE'S HUMAN!"
http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc&feature=related
I just watched this again. I had forgotten how funny this little guy is, I am laughing my ass off.
It's a good way to start the day.

I am the Mayor of CrAzY ToWn
I got a phone call last night, about midnight.
From someone close to me, who lives in crazy town.
SP you are no longer the Mayor / President / Ruler of Crazy Town.
That distinction belongs to me now.
This person, who I love, have always loved, will always love, is Fuckin' CRAZY.
They:
Use to be a crack dealer - but stopped.
Use to be a crack head - but stopped.
Now I find out that this person:
Used Meth
Dealt Meth
Manufactured Meth
OMFG!
Apparently that is no longer the case which is why they felt like they could let me know.
But REALLY!?
Fucking METH?!
How in the HELL can a person have that kind of life and not be completely stressed the Fuck out?!
Oh, because they are HIGH.
ARGH! I will never understand this.
Sweet little baby Jesus.
I will always love this person, but I will NEVER understand this person.

Justin Bieber Dating...Really?!
I'm just going to say this...
This kid Justin Bieber, who says he's 16, looks like he's 12.
Maybe.
And he says he's "looking for a girlfriend he can take home to Mom".
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20425600,00.html
You have GOT to be kidding me!
He looks barely old enough to wipe his own butt much less go on a date.
As you can see I'm not really a fan. I think he sounds like a girl (good luck with the career when your voice changes, if it changes) and he pretty much looks like one too.
I also think the labor department should get involved - because he looks way too young to be working as much as he is.
I wonder if I'll get any comments on this post as apparently the tweens are fanatics about him. Tell you what, those little girls parents should be monitoring what they are listening to if it gets them so worked up they "tweet" death threats to Kim Kardashian.
http://www.starpulse.com/news/Casey_Johnson/2010/06/15/justin_bieber_fans_send_death_threats_
Seriously - do these little kids think for one moment that she would be interested in Justin Bieber in a "dating I wanna have sex with you" way?!
Come on - she's a beautiful WOMAN. And usually WOMEN want to date MEN. You know like Reggie Bush.
Really would you choose this:
Over this?
Or this?
When you can get a man who looks like this and is successful - why would one even think that you would be interested in a child. Because that's what Bieber is...a child.
And when did 16 year olds start looking like small little girls? When I was 16 they looked a whole lot older than that - I know because I went back and looked at my year book and my photos just to make sure.
What are they feeding kids these days? Anti aging pills?

No More Arabic Please!
I really do not like it when my web pages are flipped to Arabic.
I mean I've been typing and reading everything in English, my country is marked as America, yet my browser keeps flipping to Arabic.
My blogger page, my Google.com are both now in Arabic.
Because I can't even begin to read it and it's left to right instead of right to left I have to click on everything until I click on the English button on my Blogger page.
I have to Google, Google.com so I can choose the English site - which may take awhile because the "smart" computer which identifies where you are physically keeps flippin me back to the Arabic site.
ARGH!
I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football.
You know what!? I'm going to be back home in time to watch It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown on TV this year!!!!

Cleaning out the Clutter
I spent the weekend going through my things in preparation to move.
Well, o.k. I really only spend part of Saturday.
Friday I hung out with friends.
At the mall.
Where I bought a really cute necklace.
I do love to shop.
And Saturday morning my husband and I went and had coffee. It was tastee...
Anyhooo....
I chucked out a lot of things,
Expired sun tan lotion - the expiration date was in 2007...OUCH!
Expired vitamins - 2009
Old make-up - no idea how old it was and couldn't remember ever using it - so trash.
Elastic bands that were no longer elastic.
Random papers.
And of course I threw out things I didn't mean to throw out...
My nail clippers.
My eye pencil that I use everyday.
Safety pins.
And who knows what else.
But you know what? My bathroom looks really organized now. As do my drawers and my closet.
AND I posted some stuff on Dubizzel (the equivalent of Craig's List over here) and it all sold with in about 4 hours!!!!
I am so psyched!

Pizzeria Uno
Yeah I know.
And no, today I can't think of anything better to blog about.
I think I have bloggers block.
Last night I went and had pizza with friends.
As you know, I don't usually agree to go out for pizza, I pretty much don't like pizza.
But this pizza...this pizza is GOOD.
http://uno.know-where.com/pizzeria/cgi/index?mapid=intl&design=default&lang=en
I'm certain they make the crust with BUTTER!
It's just sooo YUMMY!
And as you know - I cannot resist baked goods with butter!
And the chain is American.
Ahhhhhhh.....America!

AMERICA! The Job Hunt...Starts!
This is why I love America:
"Hi Judith. Welcome back! We have not met but thought I would reach out and see if we can meet. Your resume online seems to indicate you are moving back this month. If you are here I would like to work with you to see if I can help you find a new role. I am a fiannce and accounting recruiter here in Houston and have been in this business for 7 years. Prior to that I was a CFO in a publicly held company. Would be delighted to work with you. Thanks for the reply. Look forward to meeting you and see if we can find a new role for you in Houston. "
This was from a recruiter who pulled my CV from Monster, which I updated on Sunday indicating that I was moving back to the US in September and would be available for a J.O.B.
Now she spelled finance wrong, but really it's about the fact that a real person wrote me regarding employment.
In America.
And...guess what?!
She didn't ask for a photo.
She didn't ask for my nationality.
Or my age.
Or my passport number.
Go figure.
A real inquiry from a real person.
That acts professional (except for the spelling error).
I wonder how long it will take me to find a job in the US...
Ain't life grand?
Oh sorry - Ain't AMERICA GRAND!

No Corn Tortillas
Here's reason 1,687 that I'm glad to be moving back to the US.
Supply Chain Management.
When you go to the grocery store here it's hit and miss.
Yes, they import way more American items than the UK did.
But it's not consistent.
So sometimes you can get corn tortillas, but most of the time you can't find them to save your life.
Like last night.
I wanted corn tortillas to make something similar to Taquitos. But no go.
But I did find a few cans of Bush's Black Beans. So I picked up 3 cans.
I didn't buy them all because after all....
I'M LEAVING DUBAI AT THE END OF THE MONTH!!!!
So I don't have to horde food when I find it any more!
Actually I'm trying to eat through everything I have now.
I think I have about 20 cans of Rotel. I don't think I'll be finishing that off before I leave.
I'll try - but I'd have to eat one can a day.
And yeah. That's not happening.
AMERICA!

Only in Dubai
My husband and I went out to dinner on Friday night.
We went to PF Chang's - where they have imported American Chef's and American management.
Go America.
So it's a slice of the US in the Middle East.
So tastee!
Anyway - we pop into Crate and Barrel (yes the mall we went to is US focused - they also have a Pottery Barn!).
And guess what we see.
Parents checking their bags in with the security guard.
Oh, and their children!
Ha ha ha ha!
The kids were left in the carts, with the bags, with the security guard!
Who was playing with the kids while the parents shopped!
Only in Dubai would it be normal and acceptable to leave your kids with a stranger!
Of course in Denmark they leave the kids in their strollers outside the shops, in the streets, by themselves.
No kidding. In the street.
It's a pedestrian street, but still...
I guess people don't take kids over there, or over here.
Or it's so rare parents don't even think about it.

Good Golly Molly!
My husband's boss decided today that he should concentrate solely on North America, with an eye to Europe for opportunities.
What does that mean you ask?
It means he will be based in HOUSTON! And he won't have to visit the ME monthly!
Does it get any better than this?!
I don't think so!
Well, maybe if Gabi were still around to enjoy it...
Oh, I just thought of something - since he's going to be based in Houston it may mean that I won't be staying with my BBF SP for a the few months that we had planned.
Hmmm - I was looking forward to hanging with her and the family for a few months.
Oh well - I'll still be A LOT closer to her than I am now!
Caio!

Katherine Heigl and Peanut Butter
I had a dream last night.
It was me, Katherine Heigl, my sister, and a really good friend (this friend was nameless, and faceless but in my dream a very close friend).
Weird.
Why in the world would Katherine Heigl be in one of my dreams? I don't even particularly care for her movies, and I didn't see one last night.
Hmmmm
Anyway, in the dream we were on a train going somewhere. My sister and Katherine knew where we were going.
We were going to cross off #4 on "the list".
So after we got to where we were going we took a van to go back.
By the way, I have no idea where we went or what we saw.
We all pile into the van with the driver and started to drive down the train tracks.
I'm like "what if a train comes?!" and the driver says don't worry trains can't travel on these tracks because of the boulders.
And sure enough there were boulders in the tunnel, because of course we were suddenly in a tunnel.
But the tunnel was as bright as day. And it had boulders everywhere, and the tracks were like straight up.
To the point that I was leaning back and completely perpendicular to the ground. And when I looked over one of the boulders had crushed some boots and had bugs under it.
Weird.
So we get out of the tunnel and we're magically sitting around, I think in a boat, and Katherine Heigl says, "there I've marked four things off my list, see?".
She hands me her camera and it has peanut butter on it. She's using peanut butter to mark things off her list.
I'm like, "I can't see the list for the peanut butter. What did we just look at? What was #4 on the list?". And "Can I wipe this peanut butter off?".
In my dream I start wiping the peanut butter off and then I wake up.
WTF - where did that come from?!

Transfer Complete!
Well almost...
I've been trying to move my travel blog over to this account so I only have to log in once to manage my accounts.
It was a pain because even when you download the old blog then upload it back up to the new - as per the instructions - it didn't carry over any of my photos.
And I was trying to preserve what I had done without any changes. You know capture the moment in time and all.
Any way I had to do a manual process of copy and past, but every time I went from one blog to the other I got logged out.
I was not happy! But I did get if finished, for the most part.
I have like one or two posts left to go - I think - I got blocked out last night so I have to wait a few days to get back into the old account.
But I have most of it moved over here in the new account so I can start blogging about the places we've been since the beginning of the year.

Libya is the New Dubai
Have you heard about this?
Apparently Libya is the new Dubai...
I'm all for Muammar Gadhafi renouncing terrorism. I hope this is true because with the "President" of Iran acting like a crazy man there needs to be more stability over here in the Middle East.
Maybe if people in the Middle East were more educated and exposed to different cultures and the concept of civil rights house maids wouldn't have to be subjected to hot nails being hammered into them.
Yes that really happened to a Sri Lankan house maid in KSA. Here is the article, she had 13 nails and 5 needles removed. They couldn't get the other 6 needles in her hands because it could have damaged her nerves.
House maids should be warned before they go to KSA and given help numbers. Or they should have to check in weekly with their country's embassy with a code word that means, "GET ME OUT OF HERE!".
I'm so glad I was born an American.

A friend of mine showed me this article in the News Biscuit.
I mean how funny is that?!
It's a teeny tiny little Burqa for your Blackberry.
I wonder if you can really buy them...I want to get one for my husband.

Sexual Servitude versus Jail
Really?!
Really.
How desperate would you have to be to prefer this:
Over jail (see article here)?
Not me I can tell you. Of course I've never been to jail - but I can't imagine agreeing to become this man's sex and house cleaning slave to get myself out of jail.
I mean - what exactly happened during her 12 day jail stay that made him seem like the better choice?!
And are the police looking into that? You'd think they would want to make sure something horrendous didn't happen in jail.
I'm not even a police officer and I want to know what could make that "man" a better choice.
Really.
How desperate would you have to be to prefer this:

Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!
I'm very happy right now.
I'll tell you more tomorrow!
But I can tell you this I am sooooo HAPPY!
And I'm having some Ben Nevis!

I can't believe I use to be so small!
I'm going through my clothes - ones that I've had in my cedar chest for the past 5+ years.
Do you know that I use to wear a petite small in my dress shirts?
That I'm looking at a size five sun dress that I use to wear all the time?! Yes the sun dress I use to wear when I was 28 - but still...
I am getting rid of all my size 8 suits that I use to wear in Houston. Not only do they not fit - they're out of style. About 7 - 9 years out of style. So even if I lost my voluptuous curves - I still wouldn't wear them.
So out the door they go.
Who knows what else I'll find - considering that I haven't shifted through these things since London. I don't think I even looked at this stuff when we moved from London to Dubai - I think the last time I actually looked at this stuff was when we moved to London.
Like in Feb / March 2005.

Lady Gaga - Alejandro
Have you seen this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niqrrmev4mA
When I first saw it I thought Lady Gaga was making fun of video ho's by having man ho's in her video.
Then my husband looked it up on Google and he saw this: http://vigilantcitizen.com/?p=3979
Which is very interesting - a lot of conjecture about the illuminati, God, and homosexual undertones.
I looked it up and got this: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1641136/20100609/lady_gaga.jhtml
Apparently the director was thinking about a woman's lost love.
Interesting how people assign their own weird meanings to things.
When I was at University I took an English class, the teacher had us read Cinderella and then wanted us to write about the feminist undertones of the story. How it highlighted the oppression of women.
I wrote that there were no feminist undertones to the story, that people just assigned their own meanings to it, ones the author never intended. I wrote that Cinderella was just a story written by some guy trying to shut his kids up, put them to bed, and teach them a lesson at the same time. The moral of Cinderella - be nice to people or it just may bite you in the ass, aka what goes around comes around.
The teacher was a bit pissed at me at going "off topic" but at least she gave me a C instead of an F.

Blackberry usage
Can I whip my husband?
In Saudi a man whipped his wife because she was spending too much time on her blackberry and wasn't paying enough attention to him.
http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/saudi-arabia/saudi-man-whips-wife-for-overusing-blackberry-1.670146
I don't agree with this, at all. But I can understand it, the blackberry is an addiction.
It's Satan's tool.
Get thee away from me!
In other news...Mickey Mouse must DIE!

Productivity
Can you believe it - I was actually a bit productive this weekend.
I cooked food for the first part of the week.
I sorted through some boxes and tossed out a lot of stuff!
But, I didn't do an inventory of what needs to be insured.
My goal tonight is to start sorting through my clothes. I have way too many that I don't wear.
Well actually, can't wear.
It's the F.A.T.
My bootie is too big for a lot of my clothes.
I have a hard time letting go. Especially when I really like something.
I keep thinking - I just need to loose xx pounds. Then It'll fit.
I don't think those size 4's are going to ever fit again.
EVER.
So it should be safe to let them go, hmmmm?

Poems and Thoughts
Today the Vet called me. He wanted to see how I was doing.
It made me cry a little.
Again.
I put together an album of my photos of Gabi over the years - but I can't finish it until I find the photos of her in her princess costume.
Yeah - I went a little overboard sometimes.
I dressed her for halloween.
And just because.
I don't care what my husband said...she enjoyed it!
Anyway, I wanted a nice poem or a quote to add to the album (it's digital to be printed by Mac).
And I came across these:
"Not the least hard thing to bear when they go from us, these quiet friends, is that they carry away with them so many years of our own lives.
John Galsworthy

I Remember
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.
